Anthem Vineyard
Subregion: Gibbston Valley
Region: Central Otago
Grows: Pinot Noir - Blank Canvas Anthem Vineyard Pinot Noir
Growers: Henderson Family
Viticultural Manager: Jase Thomson
The Anthem Vineyard is nestled in the Gibbston Valley which is the earliest Pinot Noir subregion of Central Otago, first planted in the 1980s. Anthem was planted in 2001, and we source a small parcel of Pinot Noir from the Cliff Block within the vineyard estate.
Soils and Climate: The Gibbston Valley is one of the coolest subregions of Central Otago and is always the last fruit to be harvested each vintage. The fruit therefore gets a long hang-time and displays genuine cool-climate aromatics with elegant floral characters. The soils are schist derived and of glacial origin, with some wind blown alluvial loess.
Vineyard: The vineyard, planted in 2001-2002 is fully planted to Pinot Noir, we have a select parcel of Dijon clone 777 and an area just under 1 hectare of vines. The vineyard, run by talented viticultural manager Jase Thomson, is managed under New Zealand sustainable certification practices.
