New Blank Canvas White Releases Reviewed
Bob Campbell MW recently reviewed our new release white wines, the Blank Canvas 'Abstract' Sauvignon Blanc 2017, which received a 94 point score:
'Oak fermented and matured sauvignon blanc that's as much about texture as it is about grapefruit, guava, struck flint, mineral and passionfruit flavours. An impressive wine with power and purity.'
Meanwhile, Michael Cooper awarded the wine 4.5 stars in his 2019 Wine Buyer's Guide:
“Currently delicious, but still developing, the 2017 vintage (4.5*) is a single-vineyard wine, grown at Dillons Point, in the lower Wairau Valley. It was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for over a year in seasoned French oak puncheons. Bright, light lemon/green, it is weighty and complex, with ripe, tropical fruit flavours, a gentle seasoning of toasty oak, and a rounded, bone-dry, lengthy finish. Best drinking 2020+..”
Our inaugural Blank Canvas 'Reed' Chardonnay from the 2018 vintage received 95 points and is the current #1 rated Chardonnay from Marlborough:
'Taut, high energy, powerful chardonnay with citrus, grapefruit, oyster shell, mineral, ginger and toasted nut flavours, with a backbone of pure acidity that gives the wine a nod in the direction of Chablis.'
Both are available online in limited quantities.
