Last week, the Viva Wine Awards unveiled its “Top 50 New Zealand Wineries for 2025” list in the NZ Herald, and we’re honoured to appear alongside an impressive mix of established names and rising stars. Curated by Viva’s wine editor Dr Jo Burzynska, this roster spotlights the country’s 50 most exciting wineries, and we’re thrilled to be on it.

Even more exciting is our inclusion in the elite “New Wave Wineries” category, reserved for producers pushing the boundaries with expressive, forward-thinking wines.

Capping off the feature was our 2023 Abstract Three Rows Sauvignon Blanc earning a place in the “Top 50 Wines to Drink Now.” Dr Jo Burzynska’s thoughts on this wine:

“Abstract was created as a ‘savoury blanc’ from three rows of a dry-farmed block in the Dillons Point Holdaway Vineyard. A serious, complex and textural sauvignon in which tangy green fruits are counterpoised by some tropical guava, in a palate edged with flint and a subtle cashew note from barrel fermentation.”

We’re hugely proud of how this wine has evolved since its 2016 debut - we believe it is part of a paradigm shift for Marlborough wine.
