Introducing our New Releases
As Spring inches closer, we are thrilled to turn our attention to releasing our latest, dynamic cast of new vintages as well as guiding the first of our 2025 wines into bottle.
It’s a rewarding time for our little team, marking the end of the growing and winemaking journey when these special parcels leave our custody and do what they’re intended to do - fill glasses to provide enjoyment and convey their story of place, time and people with detail and finesse.
Like all our Blank Canvas wines, these new releases are the embodiment of our belief that the finest wines come from the most precise places. Each wine tells a vivid, authentic story. Focused, fine, and unblended, untouched by parcels from elsewhere.
These are wines of precision and personality, echoing their origins with clarity and confidence.
They showcase the remarkable diversity of our terroirs and offer a glimpse into the thrilling future of wine in our cool-climate corner of the world.
Our portfolio of new release wines include:
2024 Reed Vineyard Chardonnay
From the exceptionally powerful and extraordinary 2024 vintage, the Reed Vineyard is helping to redefine Marlborough’s potential for world class Chardonnay. True to the Reed Vineyard’s signature style, it delivers immense power balanced by striking elegance. This vintage, perhaps more than any before, is poised to captivate the growing community of admirers.
Central Wairau | Marlborough
Appellation Marlborough Wine Certified
2023 Abstract | Three Rows Sauvignon Blanc
The previous vintage of ‘Abstract’ sold out in less than six months with demand accelerating upon news it was crowned Top White Wine in New Zealand by internationally acclaimed Vinous magazine. We think this new release is just as impressive, again wild fermented and matured in French oak puncheons with a touch of new oak giving real mid-palate richness and savoury complexity.
Dillons Point | Marlborough
Appellation Marlborough Wine Certified
2021 Settlement Vineyard Pinot Noir
The low-yielding 2021 vintage produced outstanding Pinot Noir, and the Settlement Vineyard was no exception. The first journalist to get their hands on it was James Suckling, who came right out with a 95 point score, highlighting that he “loved the focused length”. With this wine also being selected for the prestigious Sommit event (a gathering of some of the world’s top sommeliers), it has clearly had the endorsement of some of the finest palates in the game.
Omaka | Southern Valleys | Marlborough
Appellation Marlborough Wine Certified
2023 Anthem Vineyard Pinot Noir
Another cracking vintage for the Anthem Vineyard, which is gaining immense popularity in fine wine markets like Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In fact, the 2021 vintage remained for an unprecedented two rotations in Japan Airline’s First Class Cabin because the high-flying customers enjoyed it so much. These vines are among the oldest in the whole Gibbston Valley and are a certain contributor to the wine’s supremely savoury complexity and charming floral perfume.
Gibbston Valley | Central Otago
2023 Upton Downs Vineyard Pinot Noir
We are beyond thrilled to welcome back the Upton Downs Vineyard Pinot Noir to our Blank Canvas family. Not only is this vineyard spectacularly beautiful but it produces some of the most ethereal and fragrant Pinot Noir in New Zealand. The 2023 vintage offers vibrant violet notes, coupled with a decidedly structured palate, which make it distinctive and impressively ageworthy.
Upper Awatere | Marlborough
