"White Wine of the Year 2023" crown for Blank Canvas Reed Vineyard Chardonnay!

Our Blank Canvas Reed Vineyard Chardonnay 2022 was named ‘White Wine of the Year’ by UK based Masters of Wine Peter Richards MW and Susie Barrie MW. 

Peter and Susie are the award-winning presenters of the top-ranking UK wine podcast ‘Susie & Peter’, and are known for their television, broadcasting and public speaking appearances.

To be singled out in this way against the hundreds of international wines Susie and Peter taste throughout the year is absolutely thrilling and reinforces our belief that this wine and vineyard is truly something special.

  • Named on Cameron Douglas MS’ ‘Top Wines of 2023’ List (95 points), with the 2020 Abstract Three Rows Sauvignon Blanc (95 points) and 2020 Una Volta Pinot Noir (96 points) also included.
  • Selected on wine journalist John Saker’s ‘The List’ in New Zealand’s newest wine publication Te Whenua. January 2024’s publication chose the top 14 Marlborough Chardonnays, compiled from a blind tasting of 43 wines. The Reed Vineyard Chardonnay appears first, with Saker having the following to say:
This wine is one of surprises. Flintiness, green olives and fresh stone fruit engage from the get-go. You then realise the fruit is hanging around longer than expected. It spreads and frolics across the palate, generous and free, before a long, fine resolution. The flinty thread and acidity maintain discipline, orchestrating the shape beautifully.”
