Master of Wine Bob Campbell has rated our 2018 Blank Canvas Element Gimblett Gravels Syrah as in the Top Five New Zealand Syrah's Over $35 (and the Top 10 New Zealand Syrah's overall).

In his latest report featured on BusinessDesk, Bob Campbell selects his top ten New Zealand Syrah's for sipping and cellaring. Our Syrah comes in the Top Five, among four heavy-weight names carrying big ticket price tags. We are extremely proud of our quality to value ratio and represent the best value in this line up - the most expensive wine is three times the price of our Syrah. 

Bob writes: 

"2018 Blank Canvas Element Syrah, Hawke’s Bay, $55 - From the smallest vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels sub-region. Co-fermented with 7% gruner veltliner skins for colour stability, complexity of tannin and a spicy, aromatic lift. The wine certainly has a great depth of colour and rich, ripe flavours including Black Doris plum, liquorice, cocoa powder, mocha and a suggestion of violet. Generously proportioned wine with an appealingly supple texture."

Previously Bob has awarded this vintage an outstanding 96 points which places it in the top three Syrah in New Zealand for this vintage.
